MidMEAC Receives Watershed Education Grant From NAAEE

The MidMEAC Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new watershed education program made possible by the North American Association of Environmental Educators / NAAEE and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration / NOAA.

NAAEE/NOAA funded MidMichigan Watershed Connections Reaching Higher / MMWCRH, a partnership between MidMEAC and Highfields, with support from environmental educator Dave Chapman, EGLE Michigan Environmental Education Curriculum Support, Mid-Michigan Land Conservancy, Middle Grand River Organization of Watersheds, and others.

MMWCRH will provide science instruction and establish connections between STEM educators, students, and industry practitioners. The project provides classroom lessons on watershed dynamics and field experiences to engage students in learning about the challenges to our watershed. Discussion emphasizes the ways our individual choices impact downstream conditions in the Grand River and Great Lakes Basin.
